WHO I AM To put it short, I am a 3D artist. 3D is my true passion, the more I do 3D, the more I want to do. My main areas of specialization are lighting and texturing. I live in Montreal, and work in Montreal. I'm am a French speaker, and very proud to speak this beautiful langage. I have a background in graphic design, and am proficient with hand-drawing. I used to play music (guitar and bass guitar), but completely stopped near my mid 20s.
PROFESSIONAL ORIENTED ACTIVITIES I am President of XSI Montreal, the Montreal XSI user group. I am also Moderator at XSI Base, a very successful resources site dedicated to XSI. As you can see, I like XSI a lot. More, in fall 2002 I created and recorded a serie of XSI video lessons, that are sold on 3dtutorial.com.
PERSONAL ORIENTED ACTIVITIES In my free-time I work on personal projects with XSI (of course) and 3ds max. I have two projects at this time: one is "The Sorcerer", wich I do all on my own with XSI, and the other is Big, Brain & Banjo, a small cartoon short that I do with work colleagues (I am the texture artist). BBB is done with 3ds max. On a different chapter, I'm also a Dungeons & Dragons fan, I like movies, I enjoy reading a lot (books, that is), even though I don't have time for that I really like playing badminton, and I love fancy beers.
WHERE I COME FROM Born in 1975, I grew up in a Montreal suburb called Sainte-Julie. After high school I went to a professional school to learn welding. I found during that time that my artistic skills would be more fun so I went to public college, where I got a graphic design degree. I worked for two years as a graphic designer. I got bored, and was thinking to do 3D since a while, but never went that road. Before. So I got back to school, this time in a private college, and got a degree in 2D-3D animation. I work in the 3D industry since October 2000. It was not easy finding work, but it is so rewarding.
MUSIC I used to have an important hobby: music. I played bass guitar and electric guitar for 9 years. I joined several bands: Obscence Crisis, Impurity, and Vengeance. Unfortunately I performed only two shows, and participated to the production of two demos. I played death metal and black metal. However, in the course of 1999, I sacrificed music, to the profit of graphic design. I devoted my spare time exclusively to graphic design (and later, 3D).
